Tomer at Cooperfix was an extremely knowledgeable professional that had the expertise to repair/rebuild a water chiller unit that I do not think many others would have been able to. He had to make 3 total visits during which he was always on time, polite and the quoted prices were the end prices with no surprises. Highly recommend.

    Home Fridge Repair FAQs

How much does it cost to fix a fridge?

On average, a fridge repair can cost anywhere from $150 and up. The price depends on the service and the cost of spare parts that will be used. For example, a simple thermostat replacement will cost much less than motor issues. Of course it also depends if the fridge is commercial or residential.

When it comes to fridges, it is likely that you are better off fixing an issue rather than replacing the appliance, simply because they are very expensive to begin with. Unless the fridge is very old and deemed beyond repair, fixing it can save you the high cost of getting a new one. However, if you continue to experience issues, the cost can quickly add up, so it may be better for you to just replace it.

Yes. If your fridge repair technician doesn’t need any spare parts, you can have it fixed within the same day. Our technicians are always available for same day fridge repair service.

At Cooper Fix, we send out the best and experienced technicians to fix your fridge. Usually, one to two technicians will arrive to your home and inspect the appliance. After identifying the issue, they will inform you of the issue and provide you with a quote. If you decide to continue with the repair, our technicians will proceed with fixing the fridge.

There are a few things you can do to make the fridge repair process go smoother. You can:

    • Empty out the fridge
    • Have all warranties and documents available (if you have them)
    • Make sure there is a person 18+ to meet the technicians
    • Restrain any pets you may have

In some cases, your technician won’t be able to fix your fridge without replacement parts. Depending on the appliance and the availability of those spare parts, it may take a while for them to arrive. Cooper Fix technicians are well stocked with common spare parts, which means they can usually perform repairs on the spot. If the spare part is not available at the moment, our technicians will make sure it is ordered and that it arrives as fast as possible.

It depends. If you have a heated garage, you’re probably okay with keeping a fridge in it. However, most manufacturers don’t recommend keeping a refrigerator in a room where the temperature is below 50 degrees Fahrenheit, so if your garage is unheated, you’re better off not keeping your fridge in it. Over time, the cold weather will cause problems with your fridge.

    Home Fridge Maintenance Tips

Keep the coils free from dust and debris. They are usually located in the back of the fridge or at the bottom. You can quickly get rid of the dirt simply by using a vacuum or a soft brush. Do this once or twice a year.

The fridge uses more energy and works harder if its gasket isn’t sealing well. Check the gasket for wear and tear often and if you find any cracks, it should be replaced. Also, make sure to clean it with some warm water mixed with soap to prevent damage from food and crumbs building up.

Fridge water dispensers and ice makers have filters that need regular changing. Check your fridge manufacturer instructions for instructions on how to keep your water dispenser and icemaker clean.

Piping hot dishes straight from the oven shouldn’t be placed in the fridge. This will cause an irregular temperature, making the fridge work more to stabilize. Let hot items cool down before you put them inside the fridge.

If your fridge doesn’t close properly, the cool air will escape, which will make it work much harder and also waste energy.

While it’s good to keep your fridge moderately full, make sure you don’t overcrowd it, so that the food doesn’t get in the way of any vents or controls. Also, while we’re at storing food, be sure to keep it sealed with secured tops to minimize moisture.

The position of your fridge matters a lot. You won’t always be able to choose where to place it, but if you do have a choice, keep it away from any heating source such as your cooktop or oven. If your fridge is close to heat, it will work harder and use more energy.
