Heatcraft Commercial Refrigeration Repair

CooperFix services Heatcraft refrigeration equipment across Toronto and the GTA. Heatcraft supplies the unit coolers and condensing units behind walk-in rooms, and on these systems the room is the equipment: box temperature, door discipline and product loading are diagnosed alongside the hardware.

Heatcraft supplies evaporators and unit coolers, air-cooled condensing units and matched system packages for walk-in coolers and freezers. Nameplate data gives capacity, refrigerant, defrost type and the matched pairing the system was designed around.

Heatcraft Equipment We Service

Unit Coolers and Evaporators

Ceiling and wall-mounted coolers inside the box, where coil condition, fan operation, drain and defrost decide whether the room holds.

Air-Cooled Condensing Units

Outdoor and machine-room packages rejecting heat from the box. Coil condition and airflow drive everything downstream.

Defrost Systems

Electric, air or hot gas defrost, where termination and interval matter more than heater wattage.

Drain and Drain Line

Heated drain lines and traps, a frequent and unglamorous cause of ice on a freezer floor.

Matched System Pairing

Evaporator and condensing unit selected as a pair. A replacement that breaks the pairing creates a system that never quite works.

Walk-In Room Conditions

Door closers, strip curtains, panel condition and loading practice, all of which change the load the equipment sees.

Heatcraft Faults We See Most Often

Ice on the evaporator that returns after cleaning. Clearing ice without correcting defrost termination guarantees the call comes back in three weeks.

Frozen drain line. A drain that ices leaves water on the floor and ice under the cooler. The heater and the trap are checked, not just the coil.

Door left open or strip curtain missing. A freezer door held open by a pallet loads the coil continuously. No repair on the equipment fixes that.

Condenser airflow outdoors. Leaves, snow, lint and a fence built too close all raise discharge condition and cut capacity.

Mismatch after a part replacement. An evaporator or condensing unit swapped for a nearest-available part breaks the designed pairing and the room never holds properly again.

Why the Symptom Is Not the Diagnosis

A walk-in room that will not hold can come from door use, panel and curtain condition, loading, evaporator icing, defrost operation, drain condition, condenser airflow or the refrigeration circuit. On these systems the room is checked at the same time as the equipment, because half the faults start there.

Each of those leads to a different repair and a different cost. Measurements and the equipment sequence come before a recommendation, not after it.

What Helps Before We Arrive

  • Model and serial number from the data plate.
  • The temperature the unit is set to and the temperature it is actually showing.
  • When the change started and whether anything else changed at the same time.
  • Whether the unit is running continuously, cycling, or not starting.

How a Heatcraft Service Call Runs

  1. Identify the system. Evaporator and condensing unit nameplates, refrigerant, defrost type and the pairing they were designed as.
  2. Assess the room. Doors, closers, strip curtains, panel condition, floor, loading and how often the room is entered.
  3. Inspect the evaporator. Coil condition, fan operation, ice pattern, drain pan and drain line.
  4. Review defrost. Type, interval and termination, measured rather than assumed.
  5. Assess heat rejection. Condenser coil condition, fans, airflow and anything built or stacked around the unit.
  6. Report before repair. What was measured, what it means and what the repair involves, including anything in the room that has to change.
