Perlick Commercial Refrigeration Repair
CooperFix services Perlick refrigeration in bars, restaurants and hospitality rooms across Toronto and the GTA. Perlick underbar equipment works in the hottest and tightest position in the building, and on most calls the installation is examined as closely as the cabinet.
Perlick builds underbar refrigeration, back bar coolers, glass and bottle coolers, undercounter cabinets and beer dispensing equipment. Section width, door type and the way the unit was built into the bar determine what is checked first.

Underbar Refrigeration
Low-height cabinets built into the bar line, sharing space with sinks, ice bins and dispensing equipment.
Back Bar Coolers
Bottle cooling on display behind the bar, with glass or solid doors and constant use through service.
Glass and Bottle Coolers
Units held at low temperature for chilled glassware and bottles, where set point and recovery matter more than storage volume.
Undercounter Cabinets
Storage refrigeration under a work surface, limited by clearance and by heat from adjacent equipment.
Beer Dispensing Refrigeration
Cooling for dispensing systems, where line temperature and cabinet temperature are separate measurements.
Drawer Units
Refrigerated drawers, where slide condition and gasket wear decide whether the unit seals at all.
Perlick Faults We See Most Often
Ambient temperature in a working bar. A full room on a Friday night is a different environment from an empty one at noon. Equipment rated for normal ambient loses capacity exactly when it is needed.
Ventilation closed by millwork. Bar cabinetry, kick plates and stored cases block the air path. The unit holds early in service and stops holding late.
Drawer slides and gaskets. A drawer that no longer closes square never seals. The frost pattern shows it before the thermometer does.
Recovery after heavy use. Constant door opening through service prevents recovery. That is a capacity and installation question, not a fault.
Condenser loading in a bar. Lint, dust and spill residue blanket a coil faster behind a bar than in a kitchen.
Why the Symptom Is Not the Diagnosis
A Perlick unit that will not hold can come from room temperature, ventilation clearance, door or drawer sealing, use pattern through service, condenser condition, a fan, a sensor or the refrigeration circuit. In a bar the position and the installation are checked before the equipment is blamed.
Each of those leads to a different repair and a different cost. Measurements and the equipment sequence come before a recommendation, not after it.
What Helps Before We Arrive
- Model and serial number from the data plate.
- The temperature the unit is set to and the temperature it is actually showing.
- When the change started and whether anything else changed at the same time.
- Whether the unit is running continuously, cycling, or not starting.
How a Perlick Service Call Runs
- Identify the unit. Model, serial, application, set point and recent temperature history.
- Assess the installation. Ventilation clearance, kick plates, millwork, intake and discharge paths, ambient temperature at the unit during service.
- Review the cabinet. Doors, drawers, slides, gaskets, loading, visible frost or standing water.
- Check airflow and heat rejection. Condenser condition, fans and the route air takes in and out.
- Test controls and electrical operation. Set point, sensors, measured temperatures and the components in the sequence.
- Report before repair. What was measured, what it means and what the repair involves, including anything about the installation that limits the unit.
