Front warm, back cold
The air curtain is not holding. On an open or glass-front case, cold air is meant to travel from the discharge grille down the front and back through the return. When the discharge fan slows, the return grille is blocked by product or debris, or the coil behind it is partly iced, store air spills into the front rows. Air velocity at the discharge, temperature at the return and the fan motor’s current draw are measured, and the fan, the airflow path or the defrost fault behind the ice is repaired.
