Traulsen builds heavy-duty upright cabinets, roll-in and roll-thru units, refrigerated preparation tables and blast chilling equipment. Many series carry a microprocessor control with an on-board display, which gives a starting point for diagnosis but does not replace measurement.

Traulsen Faults We See Most Often

Controller reading against real temperature. A displayed value that disagrees with a measured one points at the sensor, its placement or its wiring before it points at the refrigeration circuit.

Door and gasket wear on high-cycle units. Institutional food service sites open these doors hundreds of times a shift. A gasket that no longer seals adds continuous load and frosts one corner first.

Rack fit on roll-in cabinets. A rack that sits proud of the opening holds the door off its seal. The symptom looks refrigeration-side and is mechanical.

Condenser loading. Heat rejection falls as the coil loads. The cabinet holds until the room gets hot, then stops holding.

Defrost operation. Ice on the evaporator drops airflow and presents as a warm box with a cold coil.

Why the Symptom Is Not the Diagnosis

A warm Traulsen cabinet can come from airflow, rack fit, loading, condenser condition, a fan, a sensor, the controller, an electrical component or the refrigeration circuit itself. On roll-in units the mechanical causes are checked before the refrigeration ones, because they are more common and cheaper to correct.

Each of those leads to a different repair and a different cost. Measurements and the equipment sequence come before a recommendation, not after it.

What Helps Before We Arrive

• Model and serial number from the data plate.
• The temperature the unit is set to and the temperature it is actually showing.
• When the change started and whether anything else changed at the same time.
• Whether the unit is running continuously, cycling, or not starting.
