Tomer at Cooperfix was an extremely knowledgeable professional that had the expertise to repair/rebuild a water chiller unit that I do not think many others would have been able to. He had to make 3 total visits during which he was always on time, polite and the quoted prices were the end prices with no surprises. Highly recommend.

    Commercial Freezer Repair FAQs

How do I stop my commercial freezer from icing up?

Ice buildup inside commercial refrigerators often occurs when warm air from outside enters a refrigerator and condenses on interior surfaces. However, ice or frost developing inside refrigerated compartments may be indicators of several problems, such as improper air ventilation, faulty door gaskets, refrigerant leaks, or doors being opened too frequently or left open for too long.

The inability of commercial refrigeration systems to provide enough cooling may be due to:

    • Dirty condenser and evaporator coils
    • A malfunctioning compressor or thermostat
    • Incorrect temperature settings
    • Dirty fans
    • Inadequate air flow inside the refrigerator
    • Door gaskets that aren’t sealing properly
    • Refrigerant leaks

    Freezer Maintenance Tips

Dust buildup prevents the engine from running smoothly. Unplug the unit and snap off the lower grill if the coils are in the front. Then proceed to vacuum using the brush attachment.

Ideally, your freezer should be around 0° F (-18° C). If you find that it’s lower or higher than that, it might be time to call an appliance repair technician to help you determine the cause of the temperature irregularities.

Wipe the freezer walls and interior with a cloth and a mix of water and dish soap and clean the door seal while you’re at it. Baking soda will help you remove bad odours.

To maintain the best efficiency, defrost your freezer every time it reaches a quarter inch of ice build-up. As a general rule of thumb, most people will defrost the freezer once a year, but you may need to do yours more or less often depending on how much you use it, the age of the appliance and general manufacturing recommendations.

If you don’t close the freezer properly, the cool air will escape, which will make it work much harder and also waste energy.

Keep your freezer moderately full, but not too full. That will make it work harder and waste more energy.

Keep the freezer away from any heating sources such as cooktops or ovens. If the fridge is close to heat, it will work harder and use more energy.
